Edinburgh, Capital of Scotland and home to the Annual International Festival, is one of the worlds most beautiful cities, with its magnificent setting around the extinct volcano of Arthur's Seat, its famous Castle, and its wealth of architectural heritage from the late Mediaeval 'Old Town' to the Classical 'New Town' of the Georgian era. In recent years, Edinburgh has gained a number of new visitor attractions, including the new Museum of Scotland, the exciting 'Dynamic Earth', the new Scottish Parliament and the Royal Yacht Britannia docked at Leith. Ratifying Edinburgh's international reputation is the recent acquisition of the title 'World Heritage Site': the Site, stretching from Holyrood Palace in the east to a little west of Dean Village, encompasses all of the Old and New Towns together with the majority of the major tourist attractions, including the Royal Mile, for which the City has become justly famous. Shopping on Princes Street and the surrounding areas is a pleasure, with new stores enhancing the City's reputation around Scotland.
